WAYLAND, MA — R.W. Holmes Realty in Wayland played a key role in helping ACCEPT Education Collaborative (AEC), a non-profit education collaborative, locate and build their new headquarters at 4 Tech Circle in Natick.  After securing a lease for AEC, R.W. Holmes provided construction management for the $3.2 million project.

“This is a tremendous project,” ACCEPT CFO William Hurley said. “We knew we would eventually find something and make it work, but what’s happened here is beyond our wildest imaginations,” Hurley added. Improvements to the 36,000 square foot building included new mechanicals, a lobby, HVAC system, elevator, and converting the interior into classrooms and executive office space.

In June 2014, Marcia Berkowitz, executive director of AEC, sought the help of Hurley, a former business manager for Natick who worked in the public school system, to find a new location.  The team searched throughout the MetroWest area to find a suitable location. “We got close a couple of times and were really excited, and then something would happen,” Berkowitz recalled. “When we found the location at 4 Tech Circle, we were cautiously optimistic.”

4 Tech Circle was once a hub for the ambulance company American Medical Response. R.P. Masiello was the general contractor while Gregory J. O’Connor Associates provided architectural design. The job was always on or ahead of schedule, and Berkowitz and Hurley felt fortunate to be working with all parties involved.
