The town is a total of 11.9 square miles and has several major roads passing through it including Routes 128, 3, 3A, and 62.  Rapid transit includes MBTA routes 350-352, and 354, and the MBTA Commuter Rail and Logan Express Bus Service which are available at the Anderson Regional Transportation Center in neighboring Woburn.

The town of Burlington is sited on the watersheds of the Ipswich, Mystic, and Shawsheen rivers and is also home to the Mill Pond Reservoir. Located at the junction of the Boston-Merrimack corridor, it is considered part of the greater Boston area of eastern Massachusetts.

Education

The Burlington Public School District is comprised of six schools: four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Burlington is also served by the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School.

The town offers a Before and After School program, as well as an integrated preschool program. Burlington is also home to a campus of Northeastern University and has one of three campuses for Bay Path College.

Contributing Population

As of 2010, the population of Burlington was 24,498 with 9,668 households and 6,374 families living in the town. In 2014, the median household income was $86,052 and the median income per family was $99,123. While  23.6% of the population is under 18, the majority of residents are working adults. The population density is an average of 1,936 people per square mile. Only 1% of the town residents are below the poverty line, making this an attractive location for business owners and general commerce.
