The town of Burlington is sited on the watersheds of the Ipswich, Mystic, and Shawsheen rivers and is also home to the Mill Pond Reservoir. Located at the junction of the Boston-Merrimack corridor, it is considered part of the greater Boston area of eastern Massachusetts.
The Burlington Public School District is comprised of six schools: four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Burlington is also served by the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School.
The town offers a Before and After School program, as well as an integrated preschool program. Burlington is also home to a campus of Northeastern University and has one of three campuses for Bay Path College.
As of 2010, the population of Burlington was 24,498 with 9,668 households and 6,374 families living in the town. The population density is an average of 1,936 people per square mile.
