About Us
Our Story: Built on Vision, Guided by Legacy
Founded in 1976 by Robert Holmes, R.W. Holmes became one of Massachusetts’ first suburban commercial real estate brokerage firms. With entrepreneurial vision and deep market insight, Robert helped shape some of Greater Boston’s most pivotal real estate transactions.
What began as a local brokerage has grown into a full-service advisory firm guiding companies across Greater Boston and beyond.
Today, R.W. Holmes is proudly led by Garry Holmes, son of founder Robert, and joined by his daughter, Elizabeth Holmes—marking the firm’s third generation of family leadership. Our multigenerational commitment reflects more than just longevity—it’s a testament to the enduring values that built our reputation: integrity, innovation, and deep market expertise.
Independent by Design, Client-Focused by Choice
R.W. Holmes is one of Massachusetts’ leading independent commercial real estate advisory firms. Our independence is intentional—it allows us to stay agile, free from outside shareholder influence, and focused entirely on what matters most: our clients’ success.
Without corporate constraints, our brokers tailor strategies, embrace new technologies quickly, and respond in real time to market shifts. We’re full-service yet flexible—offering personalized, high-impact solutions backed by decades of trusted relationships.
Expertise That Extends Beyond Borders
With more than 260 years of combined industry experience, our team understands the Greater Boston commercial markets inside and out—from the suburbs to the urban core. We provide unmatched local insight, helping clients make confident, strategic real estate decisions.
As clients grow, we grow with them. Through national and international partnerships, we deliver the same level of trusted advisory service in every market—combining data-driven analysis with local expertise to guide site selection, leasing, and investment strategies across the U.S. and abroad.
Industry Connected, Globally Respected
Relationships are at the heart of what we do. Our firm’s long-standing involvement in national industry organizations ensures our clients are always connected to the right people, wherever they do business.
Garry Holmes, President of R.W. Holmes, is a past President of the SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) New England Chapter and continues to serve on its Board of Directors. The SIOR designation represents the highest ethical and performance standards in the industry—a distinction our team proudly upholds.
Recognized for Excellence
For nearly five decades, R.W. Holmes has consistently been recognized by clients and peers alike for our results and professionalism.
